Hard-touring country star Dierks Bentley got his country music education on his own, listening to recordings. A love of the music inspired him to move to Nashville at the age of 19.

He landed a job at The Nashville Network doing research on classic country music, and by night he worked on his demos. Capitol Records heard the artist, signed him, and released his self-titled debut in 2003.

Bentley's studio albums have accounted for twelve singles on the country singles charts, of which seven have reached No. 1: his debut single "What Was I Thinkin'", as well as "Come a Little Closer", "Settle for a Slowdown", "Every Mile a Memory", "Free and Easy", "Feel That Fire" and "Sideways".
